Yesterday, I posted a short update on the One piece movie. Well a japanese article on it anyway. I even promised to attempt to translate it. Consider this my best attempt.
I've skipped parts I didn't get at all, what's left is most likely rather inaccurate and should be taken with a grain of salt, but it is probably not that far off. So here it is. Feel free to laugh (and then correct) if you see a bunch of obvious errors. I haven't even read the manga or seen any of the other movies.
One piece: "Episode of Alabasta"
February 17th, Pirates and princesses appeared combined for the "One piece" support/promotion event.
The 8th "One piece" movie, will be based on the original story with not too many changes, but it will contain new elements in the Alabasta sage.
The meeting with the One piece fans started off with some One Piece-themed cheerleading girls dancing to the theme music. It was a cute performance, and when they completed it, Nankai Candies' Shizu-chan (you know who) appeared to the fangirls excitement.
After this Yama-chan (interviewer on previous day's Japanese academy awards), Yaguchi Mari and Kawashima Ai appeared dreased up as One Piece characters. They delivered some news about the movie, and had a entusiasthic talk with the fans afterwards.
Yaguchi also teased the fans by asking "You guys want to see this movie as fast you can, right?".
Asked about their favourite characters, Yaguchi replied that Sanji and Zoro were among her favourite male characters, to great applause from the audience. She also mentioned something about there being so many good ones, that she really couldn't chose.
Yama-chan said that if he had to chose now, it would be Pearl.
Shizu-chan replied that Sanji was good, but that her true favorite was Choppper. If she however had to leave out the old ones, her favorite would be Sanji too.
Kawashima answered that she liked Chopper like a/her little brother, but that Nico Robin was a favourite as well.
They also got asked what fascinated them about One piece, where Yaguchi answered that it gives a good feeling, and that she haven't been able to cry (or something) over the manga so far.
Yama-chan replied something to the extent that there is no such thing as abandoning the fellowship when they are fighting, while looking over at Shizu-chan.
Shizu-chan's reason seemed to be that she thought the pirate way of life seemed beautiful and dreamy. Kawashima thought that how the pirates would always get back up on their feet after being defeated was inspirering.
After this Kawashima announced the new theme song, "Compass" and her performance was well appreciated.
(Then there's the usual speech about how the movie's staff, sense of unity with the fans and all)
