Extreme closeups & nosehair

2006.9.13 - Jostein

This weeks episode of Yaguchi Hitori features only one guest and one theme.

The guest, Nagata Hiryou brings what seems to be a electron-microscope and the entire show circles around this theme. First he tries to tell a little stuff about the microscope, and both the hosts seem to be thinking a -little- hard while things are being explained.

After this, there's a few extreme close-ups of various objects. First out is something biological, with a cell-level gradual zoom. "Uuuuu! Kimochi warui! Nani kore?!?" is repeated more than once. Basicly meaning "Ewwww. That doesn't look good! What the -hell- is it?", Yaguchi doesn't like the way nature looks under the microscope.

After that they have the traditional flips, with a few prepared closeups and try to guess just -what- these things are. Most amusing part about this is when Yaguchi actually tries to -verify- that images from the electron-microscope are indeed correct.

Before the show ends Haruki rips out a few nosehairs and demand them examined. You can see the poor guest really doesn't want to, but does it anyway. That's probably the most amusing part of it.

As for the clothing report, Yaguchi is wearing a cute pink & cyan combination without looking dolled up. Pretty charming. However much of the show is dominated by microscope close-ups, and thus we don't really see too much of the staff and guests themselves. So... That's one outfit. Wait. One outfit? Yaguchi only wore one outfit in the entire episode? This gotta be a first?!? Well, sort of. After the nosehair incident, the show ends and there's the usual ads for the Yaguchi Hitori DVD. Here we see some cuts from the older eps and Yaguchi wearing a purple sweater marketing it. So, yes, sort of.

All in all, this episode had pretty much talking, and no real games or contests. I'm sure I would had given it a higher ranking, if my japanese was better and I understood more, but to me, it got sorta monotonious.
