Yaguchi Mari appeared on Nep-league haru no jin (ネプリーグ春の陣SP) on march 26th. "Haru no jin" means spring-challenge, and it seems to be some sort of intelligence-competition. The quality of this one is a pain after seeing the NHK performance in 1080i, but hey now, I got to check this out.
The show opens with a huge crowd, statements gets made, which all the contestants have to confirm or deny by holding up a giant circle or cross. This is evidently some sort of elimination round, before they get divided into three 5-person teams. Yaguchi is on the same team as the leather-woman with the whip, also known as the Neptune-team. At the very beginning Yaguchi gets asked if she is ok, and she replies that she is fine "because she haven't been studying". This reply gets a few people baffled.
First out is "stage 1" and Neptune-team. At this point they are given a problem which needs to be solved. Answers will take five parts and they must each make sure their part is correct. After this team, there's the sports team and the other team gets to comment. Last up is the advance-team.
Next up is "stage 2" or "Brain tower". Here they have to answer what things are to go up a level, answer wrong and you go all down. The goal is the get the highest score within the limited time you have. Evidently I'm not the only one with a weak japanese vocabulary.
Next up is "stage 3", or "Five bomber". Here the contestants have to answer questions on their own, and cannot rely on the rest on their team.
A few amusing things happen trough-out this one, and I'm sure if your japanese are good, some of the parts where the contestants literally yell at or attack each other is pretty funny. Anyway I'm not spoiling the outcome.
