So.... I've located a rip of the TV-broadcast of Yoshimoto Comedy 2007, and while the quality isn't stunning and it seems partial, what we do get is pretty self-explanatory. And make no doubt about it: This is definitely Japanese comedy ;)
We get introduced the different cast-members as they are introduced in the story. I also notice massive applause as Yaguchi enters the stage ;) While Yaguchi doesn't dominate this show, she is definitely the centre of the main story (as far as I can tell).
The main setting of the story is as follows. We have this guy Kawabata Yasushi obviously getting well along with Mari (which happens to be Yaguchi's character-name), definitely wanting his privacy to make the most of the situation. Problem is that they are constantly being interrupted by neighbours, the neighbour's girlfriends, their mothers, crazy leather-wearing women with whips trying to find said neighbours to mention a few. This is good stuff with a good build-up.
So we have the interruptions make the content of the show, while the small "romance" between Mari and Kawabata Yasushi provides the setting. Seeing as all of the stuff that happens is pretty funny in itself, this should be more than good enough for any fan!
To make the most of having Yaguchi in the cast, they even draw in stuff like PB-shooting in Hawaii and being a Morning Musume-idol. While this may seem like a silly or "cheap" trick, the way it's executed, it works surprisingly well.
There seems to be two parts, each which starts off similarly but unfolds differently and they both end somewhat abruptly. I'm honestly not sure about the story behind that. If it's cut to Yaguchi-only parts of the story or if it's meant to be that way (like the movie Run Lola Run), but fudge that.
I enjoyed it either way! And the audience seems to agree with me on that ;)
I could go on in detail and detail, but I don't really see the point. Japanese comedy is really best delivered as is, since the performance is such a big part of it. I'll just leave you a torrent-link, and then you can watch for yourself ;)
