New year, new episode, but otherwise mostly the same. This episode focuses on new year's stuff and Charlie Chaplin. No guests this time.

They start off by summing up last year, and then goes on to what their plans and what not are this year. Haruki went to Las Vegas last year, and feels like visiting Los Angeles this year.

Yaguchi mentions that she has already started this year with concerts and what not, and that at the end of last year she went to a onsen. Good thing friday-magazine didn't pick this up :P

As for new years resolutions, Yaguchi thinks about losing weight. I'm pretty sure she says this every year :P New of this year is that Haruki shows of his goods, to give her something to compare against, and she is not impressed.

This may be a too major change for the old-school Yaguchi Hitori fans to bear, but Haruki is actually considering changing clothes as a new year's resolution! Yaguchi then comes up with some joint Yaguchi Hitori resolutions, but Haruki is definitely not in agreement and laughs it off.

After being done with this, we are given this week's movie, Charlie Chaplin - Life and Art. They talk a lot about this movie, and how Charlie Chaplin is a charming character, a sweet tramp and all that.

To finish of the Charlie Chaplin segment, we see a clip where the tramp Charlie Chaplin serves his boots, boiled, as a dinner. Sounds like a project for Haruki, and that is exactly what we get!

Haruki is really doing his best here, but he has my full understanding when he gives up on this mission. As a "thank you for trying", they have a backup plan: Shoes made out of dried squid.

Before we commence to the eating of squid-shows we also get a short clip showing us how these are made. To our enormeous surprise they are made like normal, regular shoes, by a guy who obviously knows the trade! The shock! :o

Once Haruki has OKed the shoes, Yaguchi hesitantly gives it a try herself. She must have forgotten who just tried the shoes on, on his feet :P

Weekly entup and we this week Maimai has The assasination of Jesse James picked out this week. Maimai is sure Yaguchi will like it, since Brad Pitt is in it and all ;)

The challenge at the end is inspired by Jesse James, in the way that Yaguchi and Haruki are supposed to draw fast. In fact they are to pack chopsticks in bags fast. Whoever gets the most wins. To put it academically: A reverse chopstick-eating skills contest :P

Anyway. Given the recent comments about Yaguchi's fashion sense, she looks adorable in the first part, but then moves on to something slightly more Japanese in the entup corner, including the hairdo. I guess it's a matter of taste ;)

As for the episode as a whole... Nothing to write home about, but a nice, easy and light start of the new year. To be honest I'm most excited about Haruki getting new clothes! Let's see what happens :D
