I've been thinking about posting this for quite a while, but I've put it off for various reasons. I've pretty much done this post once already, but now I'm doing it for real. Executive executive summary: I'm shutting down all site-activity.
For years and years now, I've been running this site with the help of a few editors. In fact, since this site started we've had more than 800 posts here. That's quite a lot, so props to us!
From the get go we covered every single Yaguchi thing which hit the internet. For a period of time that could mean 3-4 updates in a single day. A lot of work, but we had the drive, got good feedback, felt we had a small community going. So we kept up. On every single minor thing.
Somehow sometime around Christmas 2007 I just let the backlog flow and never bothered catching up. 2008 was the year when I just let the backlog flow and since I first let that happen, I allowed myself some slack when it came to covering new stuff. Busier than I used to be, that became never.
With my co-editors also being busy, the one place to check for everything Yaguchi turned into a rather silent internet wasteland. And nobody complained. Nobody gave me shit, left questions in the comments about what was going on, or why things were slowing down.
I've looked for other volunteer editors, more or less to no avail. To whoever applied: Don't get me wrong, I really appreciate it.
So for 2009 I have decided that I simply don't have the drive required to get this site back to where it used to be and there is no point in being dishonest about it. Not to you, nor to myself. This site has been dead for quite a while and whatever community built up here, seems long gone.
So for the sake of good old honesty: I am discontinuing the site, effective immediately. I'm not going to wipe it off the internet and pretend it never existed, but I wont be doing updates either.
As for not leaving you entirely empty handed, I will still be doing Yaguchi Hitori torrents every week and Mattthecat seems to be covering everything else Yaguchi pretty well. I'm sure you'll have enough to watch.
Also, these days there seems to be quite a lively Yaguchi community over at the Hello! Online forums. It wasn't always like that, so please help keep it alive.
With that said: It was good while it lasted, but all good things must come to an end, and with can largely be described as a one-man show you have a rather fragile setup going.
I'll probably bump into you lot somewhere else on the internet, but until then: Life moves on, and I'm sure so will all of you ;)
