Kanrui! Jikuu Times (22.1.2007)

2007.1.23 - Updated 2007.1.25 - Jostein

Ok. So this write-up is like super, super-thin and has no substance. Please don't shoot me! The material I have to work on here is paper-thin. No really. Just consider this a picture-spamming post, and read the rest if you like. :P

The year in question is actually 1998. It opens up with Yaguchi's co-host bringing up Morning Musume's single "Summer night town" which Yaguchi seems to find quite embarrassing.

As if this was not enough (this is a 9 year old single) he starts flashing the cover picture of Yaguchi from that single (back when she was 15) and Yaguchi urges him to stop, before she spontaneously starts doing the dance-moves from the song itself.

Kanrui! Jikuu Times (15.1.2007)

2007.1.15 - Updated 2007.1.16 - Jostein

Today's topic is 1970. What does this mean? We get to see some funky gadgets from that era, not to mention see what the japanese celebrities looked like back then and even hear a few japanese songs popular around that time. Pretty tacky, but also pretty amusing.

With this topic at hand, naturally Yaguchi's older co-host knows much, much more about this time, seeing as he actually was born back then and got to live it, and thus he's mostly the one doing the talking this episode.

As usual here's a few screenshots.

Kanrui! Jikuu Times (8.1.2007)

2007.1.15 - Updated 2007.1.16 - Jostein

This episode is the most extremely cut clip I've received to date, but for anyone interested I thought I'd mention it anyway.

Year in question is 1964, and the topic for the entire show seems to be the 1964 Tokyo Summer Olympics. In the intro where they usually have some sort of gag, Yaguchi's elder co-host attempts to demonstrate a few sporty things you may do during an olympic event, and Yaguchi jokingly tries to save him from falling. There's a some reports on the subject of various character, evidently a few sad ones.

Like I said: Not much, but for those interested... That's it. And as usual, ofcourse, I bring thee a few screenshots.

This is the last episode this year, and also the one reported to be 2 hours long. As usual all I could get was merely fractions of that so don't expect a in depth review. The year in question this episode is 1986.

The episode opens with a "paparazzi" (Yaguchi's co-host) taking pictures of her while she repeatedly asks him to stop, and then suddenly starts making modeling poses. This is probably the only thing that makes sense in the entire clip.

Also there seems to be focus on the late Princess Diana and her early death. Yaguchi actually seems pretty moved by this, as can clearly be seen in her facial expression.

Kanrui! Jikuu times (4.12.2006)

2006.12.6 - Jostein

Last week's episode of this show was nowhere to be found, but I got another short fragment for this week's. Seeing as I've seen a few scans from japanese TV-guides, I was pretty happy about this. It seemed a little more lively this week.

The year in question on this episode is 1958. Most stuff were cut out, but the segment I had seen previews for, "hula hoops done to excess", was not. Yaguchi decides the entire staff needs to have a hula-hoop competitioon, probably to show off. She gets beaten by one of the female reporters on the show, ends up on second place and seems a little upset about this, but it's all good fun.

Kanrui! Jikuu times (20.11.2006)

2006.11.22 - Jostein

Since the rip I got for this episde was a tad longer, I was able to get a little more information on the show itself. Just posting this to let people know what the show is about.

First of all, there seems to be 6 journalists in the show, which each cover one story. This is the main part of the show, while the hosts (Yaguchi included) mostly has a leading function and comment on things along the way. This also sorta explains why the cut down version is as short as it is.

This episode focuses on people and events in 1969. Athletes and the moonlanding with Apollo 11 in particular.

Ok. It seems getting full episodes of this show is practicly impossible. The only thing I can get a hold of is a few ultra-cut episodes more or less just narrowed down to Yaguchi. By narrowed down, I mean cut down to 2 minutes and 30 seconds, and that's it.

These episodes doesn't really contain much at all, but at least I learned something from it. As you can clearly see in the screenshots here: Yaguchi and the black hair was evidently a very short affair, and there's no need to expect black-haired appearances anytime soon.

More news on Mari's new show

2006.10.3 - Jostein

Turned out I got a little confuzed while translating the piece on Mari's new show last time.

It apparantly is on TV-Osaka, not TV-Tokyo. Anyway, that aside, the show now has a homepage! Not much info there yet, just announcing that the show will start soon.

But at least this means it's pretty solid. let's see how the show turns out.

Update: Corrected the wrong link.

Starting october 23rd, presented to you by TV-Tokyo, Yaguchi Mari will star in a new TV-show, "Kanrui! Jikuu times" ("Tears of gratitude! Jikuu times").

At least that's the best I can get out of this japanese announcement on TV-Tokyos official pages. So far, no news on the official Hello! Project pages (at least not as I can find), but I'll take TV-Tokyos word for it.

Starring in the show besides Yaguchi, are Tokumitsu Kazuo & Bibiru Ooki, a former comedian. The show will air weekly, mondays 8pm japanese time. Each episode will be 1 hour long (pressumably with ads), with the first episode being a 2 hour special.
